“Yes I think part-time job good. Because student can… can earn money and… learn responsible. Like me, if I work, I know how to use money. But study also important.”
The idea is honestly there — but the grammar collapses underneath it (“learn responsible”), so the listener does the repair work. What separates this from Level 4: sentences that stand up on their own.
“I think em… part-time job is quite good for students. Because… hmm… you learn responsibility, like you have to be on time and serve customer. And you earn your own money, so you know the value. But… in the DSE year it might be harder, because study is the priority. So maybe fewer hours then. But overall it's a good experience.”
Fluent enough to follow, and the idea is fair — but everything stays general, and the audible word-search costs conviction. What separates this from 5**: a criterion. Nothing here is actually weighed.
“Broadly yes, though I'd frame it as timing rather than a simple good or bad. A job does what the classroom can't — real consequences build responsibility and resilience. Take a weekend café job: beyond the wage, you learn to juggle demands and read people, which are transferable. Admittedly, in Form 6 the opportunity cost of those hours rises sharply, so I'd scale it right back then. But the long-term gains outweigh the short-term cost, provided the timing's handled wisely.”
The question is reframed (“timing, not good-or-bad”), the trade-off is weighed on a named criterion, and the concession is precise. Nobody memorised this — it's thinking, out loud.
