1 · The service
HKODO (Hong Kong Oracy Dojo) is an online learning system for the HKDSE English Language Paper 4 (Speaking). It provides a six-belt curriculum (White to Black), a bank of practice prompts and exercises modelled on the exam format, worked-answer ladders showing what each performance level sounds like, AI-assisted text practice, and optional human coaching in which recordings are reviewed by tutors.
HKODO is a preparation service. It is independent of, and not endorsed by, the HKEAA or any school. Descriptions of exam levels are our coaching interpretations of publicly available level descriptors and are labelled "reference only" — they are not predictions, and no official grade can be promised by us or anyone else.
2 · Content standards
- Exam-anchored. Every unit, exercise and worked answer is tagged to the four assessment domains (Ideas & Organisation, Communication Strategies, Vocabulary & Language Patterns, Pronunciation & Delivery) and to the nine official learning modules.
- Age-appropriate and safe. All prompts and materials pass a safeguarding review before release. Topics stay within everyday school, family, community and cultural life.
- Honest levels. Worked answers model realistic student speech at each level — including the weak levels — so students can hear the difference, not just be told about it.
- Maintained. The prompt bank and belt materials are versioned; corrections and refreshes are logged and re-issued to all members at no extra cost.
3 · How AI is used — and not used
AI supports text-based practice: discussion prompts, drills, and a "coach's draft" progress radar. We do not use AI to predict DSE grades, to judge live spoken delivery, or to generate memorised model answers for reproduction in the exam. Recordings submitted for feedback are reviewed by human tutors. Full detail: How we use AI.
4 · Accounts, minors and consent
Sign-in uses an email address plus a one-time code (two-factor); we do not store passwords. Because most students are under 18, accounts for minors are created by a parent or guardian, who accepts the Terms and Privacy Policy on the student's behalf and remains the account holder. A record of consent (what was agreed, and when) is kept with the account and is visible on the account page.
5 · Payments, cancellation and refunds
- Transparent pricing. The Free tier is free forever. Paid tiers are billed monthly at the prices shown on the pricing page; there are no hidden fees.
- Payment security. Payments are processed by Stripe. Card details are entered on Stripe's secure pages and never touch our servers.
- Cancel anytime. Cancelling stops future billing; access continues to the end of the paid period.
- Fair refunds. If the service materially fails to work for a paid period (outage, missing paid content) we will refund or credit that period. First-time subscribers may request a full refund within 5 days of first payment.
- The full picture. Diamonds, rubies, coach-session cancellations, no-shows and the Associate pass each have precise rules — see the Refund & Cancellation Policy.
6 · Support and response times
Support runs by email at info@hkodo.com. We aim to acknowledge within one working day and resolve account or billing issues within three. Tutor feedback on submitted recordings is returned within the window stated at submission (typically 72 hours).
7 · Availability
We target the service being available whenever students want to practise, and schedule maintenance outside Hong Kong evening peak hours where possible. Early-access features are provided as a preview: they may change, and test data may be reset with notice.
8 · Complaints
If something is wrong — content, billing, conduct, anything — email info@hkodo.com with "Complaint" in the subject line. Complaints are acknowledged within one working day, investigated by a person (not an automated reply), and answered with what we found and what we will change.
9 · Changes to this statement
We may update this statement as the service grows. Material changes are announced to account holders by email before they take effect, and previous versions are available on request.
